ABSTRACT
As the second Five-Year-Plan was put into gear, there was a return to traditional family values among a new middle-class. The assignment of housing and communal apartments allowed for greater scrutiny of family life and the repression of individuality. The population became more passive in its obedience to dictates from above. A cult of Stalin began to take shape.
