ABSTRACT

Playful teaching and outdoor learning offer children and teachers opportunities to engage with the subject of geography in a creative manner. Playful learning is a powerful way to promote children’s knowledge and understanding of their local landscapes and encourage them to make connections to people and places on a global scale, whilst promoting their well-being and happiness. This chapter provides examples to demonstrate that playful learning opportunities that immerse children in their surroundings can provide children with valuable geographical experiences throughout the primary years.
