ABSTRACT

The Reform Act gives us a vision of a broad and civilizing education for all our children; an education which offers them the opportunity to grow spiritually, morally, emotionally and intellectually; which opens their eyes to the enormous pleasures which the arts can provide; and which helps them to understand the values and traditions which inform the society in which they live … an education which takes spiritual, moral and cultural development seriously, an education which pursues goals beyond the immediately utilitarian, balancing knowledge, skills and understanding, is a true preparation for life.
