Previously : We have talked broadly about how theory fits into the research process, and in the last chapter we had an in-depth look at explication to see how we move from the abstract concepts of theory to the concrete variables that are measureable. We have discussed how different aspects of validity contribute to our understanding and confidence in the process. We discussed the basics of measurement, and we introduced the notion of reliability as a way of assessing our measurement.
