ABSTRACT

Before I pursue the issue of ethics any further, I think it is important to underline that the politics of feminism and deconstruction are situated in relation to institutional structures. The phrase “institutional structures” is meant to refer to those codified organizations that in some way serve as regulatory bodies governing social actions. And the range of possibilities that could fall under this umbrella phrase are large: social welfare programs, organized religions, the academy, the military, government agencies, ideas of motherhood, to name only a few obvious examples and suggest the ways in which thesestructures might overlap. In this context,neither deconstruction nor feminism is a free floating body of ideas, independent of sociopolitical institutions.1
