ABSTRACT
The urban landscape, education, or designers’ operational conditions are quite
distinct in Japan and Europe, yet both entities, often described as ‘soft’ powers,
share similar challenges. This article situates an extended ‘East & West’ dialogue
between Hidetoshi Ohno and Bruno Peeters on the issue of design and research,
our respective trials and experiments, joint research and educational endeavours.
