ABSTRACT
It is important that governors have good relationships with staff so that when difficulties arise they can be resolved amicably. Creese (1995: 28) studied the relationships of governors and staff in eight schools. Teachers and governors identified the following as leading to good relationships between staff and governors:
• frequent and close contact • mutual understanding and respect • openness and honesty • good communication • trust • common aims • school ethos.
