ABSTRACT

Previous chapters have drawn on a wide range of research studies. One way to reflect on literacy in education is to carry out research into it or to engage with other people's research. The framing of research questions, as well as the findings which result from trying to answer them, can clarify our ideas. Research can reveal the nature of literacy in a range of contexts. Even when it cannot tell what is the case in a specific context, it can open our minds to what may be the case.
