ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the overall effects of socio-economic, political, and institutional conditions on the rise of ERPs. By testing the institutional conditions examined in Chapter 5 together with socio-economic and political conditions, this chapter aims to assess the overall conditions under which ERPs thrive or falter. Matching the institutional conditions with political conditions, I test the relevance of the political opportunity structure (POS), composed of the formal side (institutional conditions) and the informal side (political conditions).
