ABSTRACT
Some magical tales are clearly constructed to articulate simple moral messages rather than to further the fortunes of a hero or heroine; and such wisdom tales are almost by their very nature destined for migration. Traces of two of the following types have been noticed in antiquity; the others, so far as I am aware, are presented for the first time.
