ABSTRACT
This book was originally published ten years ago: in the month that my first television production was broadcast. Since then, I have worked as an independent television producer, running my own small production company. The way that my partners and I have made programmes does not particularly conform to the system I describe in Chapter 14. More precarious and marginal, a product of the very particular circumstances of Britain’s Channel 4, it is more like the way the film industry tends to work.
