ABSTRACT
IN THIS CHAPTER I first examine traditional research on notetaking and essay writing before moving on to consider how changing conceptions of teaching and learning are altering the ways in which these skills are now studied by psychologists. I conclude with a brief comment on how new teaching methods might increase transferable and life-long skills.
