ABSTRACT

Do not be scared of modifying existing games to video. Adaptation often adds an extra dimension and dynamic. For example, Grandparent’s Footsteps was first used with a group of deaf people, when developing visually based activities. The results were quite unexpected. The original game is quite competitive, but the video version seemed to encourage the group to work together. In addition, the impact of the nearly motionless recorded footage compared with the group’s experience of movement became apparent only on playback.
