ABSTRACT

The image researcher can be one of two things. Most commonly they will be someone interested in examining and commenting on a specific image, or collection of images. In which case, a primary concern is how to locate images, as well as handling copyright permissions for reproduction. However, they may also be someone who uses and/or creates images as part of the process of research. The notes provided here are in the main concerned with the image researcher in the first sense, but a final section offers some brief remarks on image methodologies.
