ABSTRACT

The model we describe in this chapter is very much a personal practical approach. It is derived from both occupational choice theory and counselling theory. As a working model, it has been developed through extensive experience in the field and will continue to develop in the light of further experience. Two working counselling models have particularly influenced the development of this model – G. Egan’s Skilled Helper and Sue Culley in Integrative Counselling Skills in Action.1
