ABSTRACT
Nerve-cells converse with one another; the dendrites (and sometimes points on the skin of the cell body) receive these neural messages. The axon carries the messages from the cell body to the terminal buttons. The messages from nerve-cell to nerve-cell pass across a synapse, which joins the terminal buttons of the transmitting cell to points on the cell body or to the dendrites of the receiving cell, as illustrated in Figure 2.
