ABSTRACT
Natural and man-made things, as we have seen, excite our attention. But then questions arise. Firstly, since not everything that attracts attention does so aesthetically (as when one’s attention is caught by a rustle in the grass when nervous about snakes), which attractions are aesthetic? A second question is why these attractions can be, and in what ways they can be, so powerful.
