ABSTRACT

In this chapter the development of analytical psychology in the United States and Canada after 1970 will be outlined. The story becomes more confusing as small institutes and study groups begin to develop all across the country. The study groups formed around a central organization called “CenterPoint,” which had the endorsement and encouragement of Esther Harding and Edward Edinger. Small study groups formed all across the country where Jung and other Jungian authors would be read and discussed. CenterPoint presented a national annual meeting with a featured speaker and published an ongoing newsletter In Touch. However, CenterPoint has always been separate from the development of professional training, so that it will not be discussed further. It is important to note that many thousands of Americans have been introduced to the writings of Jung and Jungians through the CenterPoint program.
