ABSTRACT
This unit invites students to speculate about specifi c historical events, using drama as an investigative tool, and provides opportunities for students to create performances based on their exploratory work. It employs a variety of stimulus materials – including contemporary ballads and posters relating specifi cally to the penal colony of Van Diemen’s Land, which provide interesting insights into the lives of people of the time.
