ABSTRACT
In this book we have traced the development of science from its primitive roots to its full blown modern form. We have, in other words, seen where science has been. It is fitting, then, to devote this last chapter to an exploration of where it is going. In fact, we can identify several important trends that have appeared in scientific work over the past half century—trends that can help put specific examples of scientific frontiers in context.
