ABSTRACT
In the preceding chapters we provided guidelines on how to identify an area of concern to you in your practice where you feel there is room for improvement, how to articulate the values that cause you to be concerned, how to critically reflect on your practice in order to achieve greater understanding of the reasons for your concerns, how to develop an action plan aimed at addressing your concerns and how to implement that plan, including how to systematically gather data in the course of carrying out your plan. In this chapter the project will be taken a stage further, and we introduce you to the process of analysing your data and using it to provide evidence of any improvement that you may have achieved in your practice or in your understanding of your practice. Apple seems to expect that all teachers should have an automatic involvement in trying to improve their practices when he states, ‘All educators (one would hope) are deeply committed to making schools better places to be’ (1996: 107).
