ABSTRACT

This book has three main aims: to link the theory and practice of literacy teaching; to explore creative approaches to literacy teaching; and to focus on speaking and listening and teaching and learning. We believe the most effective teachers and school literacy leaders are those with a firm grasp of the rationale underpinning classroom practice. This third edition includes recent developments and research in the teaching of literacy while continuing to reflect the ‘big ideas’ which have underpinned this teaching for many years and will continue to do so into the future.
