ABSTRACT

This book covers four broad topic areas, necessitating a review of four bodies of scientific research to identify the theoretical framework for the attempted analyses. First, a brief discussion on the generic characteristics of the current counterterrorism literature is provided. Second, the definition and typology of counterterrorism policies are discussed. Third, the major counterterrorism approaches are analyzed from a psychological perspective. Finally, the principal theories/concepts on (counterterrorism) policies, including their theoretical foundations are discussed and the relevant research on counterterrorism efforts of various countries is reviewed.
