ABSTRACT

When we write about our lives – be it in the form of a piece of prose or as a poem or as a diary – we are doing a number of things. We are celebrating and preserving our memories. We are making sense of and learning from our experiences. We are exploring our feelings. We are comparing the past with the present. We are reliving in our minds and our words what we have done and where we have been – which will help us to make decisions in the future. And, very importantly, we are reminding ourselves of the people that we no longer see or those that are no longer with us.
