ABSTRACT
The main issue to be addressed in this consideration of the Early Neolithic of southern Scandinavia will be the degree and significance of Late Mesolithic influences on subsequent developments. These will be explored within a consideration of the nature of Early Neolithic social organisation as revealed by the evidence from economic, settlement, monumental and ritual practices, and end with a discussion of regional differences and the relationship between these and the regional variation noted for the Late Mesolithic.
