ABSTRACT
The semantic analysis of adnominal intensifiers as discussed in König (1991), namely that these expressions make the referent of their focus central and oppose it to peripheral alternatives, goes a long way towards an exhaustive description of this type of intensifier. Hence, it will not and cannot be the aim of this chapter to put forward a new proposal. Nevertheless, there are several issues that have not been dealt with sufficiently.
