ABSTRACT

This chapter is here to help you make sense, and use, of some of the avenues open to you if you have a genuine grievance about an item which has appeared in the press or on air.

If you have turned straight to this section of the book looking for ways to exact vengeance upon or retribution from the accursed media outlet, it is probably a good idea to stand back from the situation you are in and to assess your position. You may be angry at the way an issue has been portrayed. You may believe that a journalist has taken part of an interview with you out of context. You may feel that a newspaper or broadcasting station has been too pushy in trying to get material. On the other hand, perhaps an important issue, from your point of view, has been ignored.
