ABSTRACT
When Mrs Barre had opened the letter and read that they were being invited to take part in a European project she was so shaken she had to sit down before she could read on. Hers was not a lighthouse school; in the three years she had been there it had been an uphill struggle and were it not for a core of good committed staff she would have thrown in the towel a year ago.
