ABSTRACT
In this chapter I offer a very brief set of definitions of the notion of power as an introduction to the power-full work of Michel Foucault. Given my intention to explore the possibilities for reconciliation of Foucauldian and Habermasian ideas relating to discursive democracy, I conclude the chapter by highlighting what both authors in turn have perceived as their differences and convergences.
