ABSTRACT

LOOK MORE CLOSELY at the philosophical basis of theories of perception

and the knot of complex, interrelated misconceptions and criticisms

emanating from the idea of a sensory mode of thinking begin to unravel. It

explains how the separation between the senses and intelligence happens

in the first place and why rationalism has had such a devastating impact

on our understanding of materiality. A quite different pragmatic and

interpretative concept of perception creates a platform for a radical and

far-reaching overhaul of design pedagogy.
