ABSTRACT

The groups were organized by school staff in conjunction with the advisory service in a shire county with a recent policy of annual admission. There were five groups, one in each area of the county. Each group had an organizing committee, and representatives from the committees met with the early years adviser to plan the programme. The groups worked on similar themes but tackled them in their own way according to the needs of the group. The themes were established at a day conference and evaluated at the end of the year. County-wide courses were organized by the advisory team to support and develop the work of the groups.
