ABSTRACT
Within a single country there is often considerable variation in firewood provisionvariations lost in national summaries. Information on the amount of time spent collecting firewood-always women’s work-must be treated with a good deal of caution. The data we provide on this subject is based on a small sample of communities and cannot be assumed to represent a general or national average.
