ABSTRACT
All life on the planet depends, directly or indirectly, on plants. And yet plants and plant species are being destroyed at an alarming rate. If present rates of habitat destruction continue, then some 40,000-60,000 vascular plants will face extinction within the next fifty years. In this map, we have included as much information as possible on small islands because they have distinctive biomes, tend to be rich in plant species and are suffering high rates of loss.
