ABSTRACT
Whilst for ease of understanding, the deterioration and treatment of artefacts has been divided up in this book into particular materials, there are both general and more specific approaches and techniques of conservation which apply to a great number of materials. Hence they are gathered together in this chapter under headings which refer to the main aims of conservation.
