ABSTRACT
The previous chapter examined the level and structure of Third World industrialization. This chapter describes the organization of manufacturing in the Third World in terms of the ownership of manufacturing enterprises, focusing on the role of foreign investment and the state ownership of manufacturing activities. The chapter will then examine the forms of commercial organization in the manufacturing sector, with particular reference to informal and smallscale manufacturing.
