ABSTRACT
The Buginese-Maccasarese syllabary known in Buginese as hurupu' sulapa' ∂ppa' 'four-corner letters', is based on an Indian model, runs from left to right, and retains the typically Indian system of marking non-independent vowels as super-, subscript or collinear adjuncts to consonants.
