ABSTRACT

Now that we have described how you generally set up and analyse a data file, we can introduce you to some further procedures that you may find very useful. These procedures will enable you to do the following: select certain cases (such as all white men under the age of 40) for separate analyses; and create new variables (such as scoring an attitude or personality scale) and new data files to store them. SPSS can also carry out other operations that are not described in this book such as combining files in various ways. If you want to do things that are not mentioned here, then consult the Help system or SPSS Guide.
