The North London Collegiate School for Ladies (so called because a North London Collegiate School for Boys was already in existence) had been opened in the Buss family house, 46 (now 12) Camden Street, near Oakley Square. The basement and attic rooms were reserved for the family; during school hours the ground-floor parlour served as the headmistress’s office; and the house had a large garden, which also served as a playground.
