ABSTRACT
The main source of the quantitative data used in this book is a survey, conducted in 1977, of young people who had left school in the previous academic session (1975–6). The survey was carried out on a large scale, with more than 20,000 sample members, and it covered former pupils from nearly all of Scotland’s secondary-schools.
