ABSTRACT
Before analysing the evolutionary pattern of their interaction, this chapter aims to answer a more crucial question: what triggered the change in the interaction between Taiwanese businesses and the Chinese government? This study argues that the interests of Chinese central and local governments drove them to interact with Taiwanese business people more frequently, in a more institutionalised pattern and with more involvement in policy-making.
