ABSTRACT
Planning lessons and reflecting on practice are central to the profession of teaching. In this chapter we consider first the role of observation in developing understanding of the practice of others and in informing your own planning for learning. Lesson observation and collaboration with experienced teachers provide unique opportunities to gain insights into the learning and teaching process, and are essential parts of the learning process for a beginning teacher.
