ABSTRACT

Some organizations expand their print repertoire beyond simple newsletters. They are publishing internal magazines and organizational newspapers, either in print or online. Both businesses and nonprofit organizations also publish various quarterly and annual reports, along with a range of other documents noting progress, outlining major programs, and so on. Each of these is an effort by an organization to communicate with its key publics and to extend its message through all available media. Here are your learning objectives for this chapter:

Newsletter Newsletters seem to be everywhere and it’s impossible to count how many exist. Print publications decrease in number, but growth has been rapid among online newsletters. But these are just whispers of the total number of newsletters. Local newsletters are innumerable. Many corporate newsletters are not even available to the public. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of newsletters are published by schools, churches, community singing groups, bridge clubs, sports organizations, fan clubs, and many other such groups.
