Design for Fliers The key to effective fliers is their visual appeal. Type should be pleasingly placed on the page. Use type within the same family. For emphasis, use different type sizes, or use variations within a single family of type, such as roman, italic, boldface, lightface, condensed, extended, and so on. Times Roman is a popular font with serifs, short lines capping the top and bottom strokes of each letter. Arial and Helvetica are popular sans serif fonts, without those capping lines.
