ABSTRACT
Previous chapters have traced the history of various financial and commercial services offered in Hong Kong. The present chapter seeks to place these activities in a global context by establishing Hong Kong’s position as an international financial centre in the post-war period. This includes some quantification of international banking activity and an exploration of the sources of competitive advantage for Hong Kong. A final section links the international financial services sector with the finance of domestic industry.
