ABSTRACT
It is important that those responsible for subjects, are aware of certain aspects of the powers and discretion that headteachers have on reporting which may be relevant to report writers. Headteachers may:
• exclude from reports to parents (or adult pupils) information which may breach a confidence, be harmful to the pupil or parents, or involve disclosing information about other pupils;
• decide, in the case of students aged 18 or over, whether to report attainments to their parents as well.
