ABSTRACT
Defects to the internal elements of a dwelling are often overshadowed by the problems associated with the major elements of a building such as the external walls and the roof. Yet internal defects are important for two reasons;
• they may give an indication or confirm possible defects that exist in the main superstructure of the dwelling; and
• they may be significant defects in their own right for which the remedial works would be very costly.
