ABSTRACT

Throughout this book, I have suggested ways in which poets – Shakespeare, Christopher Smart, William Blake, Thomas Hood, Wilfred Owen and others – can come into your classrooms and teach your children. They will do this for the price of one of many anthologies (see References). It would be even better to get their Collected Poems, or a good Selected. Combine one of these poets with some passion, commitment and humility from you, and poetry is a teacher, and great poetry is a great teacher.
