ABSTRACT
The rest of this chapter is devoted to a description of a sociolinguistic investigation of mutation usage in vernacular forms of Welsh, and discusses the problems of experimental design, data collection and data analysis, and concludes with an examination of how the results can be expressed formally in terms of variable rules.
