ABSTRACT

Frequently there can be adverse reactions by individuals which may highlight chinks in what was previously considered smooth team functioning. Some examples of this may be perceived in the ABC cases already identified:

Case 1: Other staff mostly supportive said ‘You’ll learn.’ Although the term ‘supportive’ is used by the care worker involved, the additional ‘You’ll learn’ appears to suggest the culture of inevitability, indicating that future situations will occur, rather than a genuine desire to ensure non-recurrence.
