Anonymous, An Elegy on Mr. Pope. Humbly Inscribed to Henry St. John, Lord Bolingbroke. By a Friend (1744). An Elegy was published on 5 June 1744: Pope had died only a few days before, during the evening of 30 May. Several elegies and effusions were occasioned by Pope's death; this is one of the more dignified.
